the city put aside $500 million for the games while chicagoans are suffering from closing Chicago public schools, reduced mental health clinics, the thought of rebudgeting child and family services (which affected just about all the dcfs kids and workers), and huge pot holes all over the city. then we still have to endure tax hikes when we have not heard or seen any progress in anything listed above... maybe fixed the roads, but we all know that is for the sake of the olympics and only in downtown and rich areas.
a lot of people are worried about the southside, meaning we need to fix it up and the olumpics are going to help it. we don't need the olympics, the olympics will kill off whatever commmunities and culture is down there (which there is a whole lot of). all the city needs on the southside are more cops in those neighborhoods. if you google Chicago Police departments, there is a huge cluster on the north side, then scattered all around the southside. ive even talked to the cpd, they said themselves all the cpds are patrolling the northside drunks, rather than the southside. all the cpd rookies go to the southside to patrol, how the hell is a rookie going to protect people we they are scared shitless cause they have never encounter such a situation?
